Our Services
Alianza organizes conferences, workshops and other training forums at the national level. We also travel nationwide and offer a variety of trainings by collaborating with State Coalitions and DV direct service providers that serve Latino families in order to enhance their knowledge and skills. Alianza develops and disseminates culturally and linguistically competent resource materials, such as curricula and training manuals. We can also tailor our trainings according to your audience. You can view a list of trainings, materials, request a workshop, or suggest a particular training through this website.
Working with Men and BoysAlianza believes that our work must include concerted and committed strategies for working with our Latino boys and adolescents. Given the fact that 90-95% of DV victims are female and children, and 95% of perpetrators are men, we have dedicated this training to explore and discuss male to female violence in the home. At the same time, Alianza is well aware that there is also battering in same–sex relationships and that either a man or a woman can be a victim. Either can be an abuser. Alianza works with men and boys through community involvement, training and workshops, and support TA calls.
Community Education and DevelopmentAlianza’s goals in this area are to: raise awareness about domestic violence in Latino communities – its existence, prevalence, nature, and its damaging effects; provide information about rights, options, resources, and services. Alianza does this through the media, community forums, special events, and the distribution of materials.
Technical AssistanceAlianza receives approximately 15-20 calls per week requesting technical assistance. Requests for assistance include but are not limited to: Spanish translation, development of research materials, statistics regarding the Latino population and DV, and print materials. Alianza has also developed a directory with a list of all the programs in the U.S. who serve DV victims (copyrighted). When fielding TA calls, it is helpful that Alianza is well versed in many Spanish regionalisms, as its support base runs throughout the country. Alianza also well versed in other social issues that are interrelated with domestic violence. Therefore, our goal is to educate victims suffering ANY type of abuse and offer respite to those seeking a way out. All technical assistance calls/referrals are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL.
Resource CenterAlianza resource center has linguistically and Culturally Materials: books, flyers, posters and many marketing materials on a range of topics on issues concerning domestic violence. All materials are in English and Spanish.
